Objectives

The need to create awareness and generate interest in the study of international relations cannot be overstated. As outlined above, AICIS focuses its attention on China, a nation whose rise continues to captivate global attention for various reasons, and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), a strategic crucible.

It publishes well-researched studies in the form of commentaries, analyses, research papers, podcasts, blogs and vlogs, authored by its team members and guest contributors. These publications are posted on AICIS's website and shared on various social and new media platforms to reach a wider audience. AICIS also collaborates with like-minded think tanks, universities and other organisations under MoUs and other suitable agreements.

AICIS conducts research programmes and periodic brainstorming sessions with domain experts on important developments in the region and forwards brief notes on the ideas discussed to policymakers and other interested agencies. It also publishes periodic journals, academic books and other material, mainly based on resources gleaned during the institute's activities.

AICIS organises seminars, conferences, webinars, debates, talks by domain experts, essay and quiz competitions and more, for high school, college, and university students at various educational institutions and other suitable public venues.

The institute provides periodic mentoring programmes for interns and researchers, coaches civil service aspirants from financially disadvantaged backgrounds on IR-related subjects, and trains such students in writing good, objective analytical reports. Those interested in writing articles on important subjects on AICIS's platforms receive the opportunity to do so.

AICIS strives to organise scholarships and sponsorships, and arrange textbooks, notebooks, and other necessary supplies to deserving school and college students from financially backward sections.

Furthermore, AICIS aims to donate water purifiers, provide filtered, cooled drinking water, proper lighting, fans, useful teaching aids and more, to schools, particularly in rural areas, where such facilities are scarce. It also endeavours to donate library books to school libraries and other smaller libraries facing financial constraints. Subject to the availability of qualified resource persons, AICIS also offers short courses in Asian languages like Chinese and Japanese, as well as regionally acceptable manners and etiquettes, for business visitors, tour operators and tourist guides.

Finally, AICIS remains open to exploring new academic or allied activities as deemed necessary and approved by the AAF from time to time.
